The design evolved through an exploration of form, function, and emotional comfort. Beginning with the base floor plan, I expanded on the concept of whimsy by introducing soft curves and fluid transitions throughout the space, while confidently establishing key elements such as storage, kitchen layouts, and fixtures. However, as the design developed, challenges emerged, particularly in visualizing the kitchen beneath the stairs and maintaining spatial clarity. Early iterations felt overly open and disconnected from the client’s desire for intimacy. Recognizing this, I shifted the plan toward a more enclosed, layered layout, embracing a cozy, almost “hobbity” atmosphere. With this adjustment, the design aligned seamlessly with the client’s needs, allowing the space to fully realize its vision as a warm, immersive, and imaginative retreat.
